The Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH) He turned 70 on August 14, 2024.

Since its creation by law in 1954, CRUCH has been a key player in building and strengthening quality higher education in Chile.

Currently, CRUCH is made up of the rectors of the 30 prestigious and public-vocation universities in the country, (link to rectors) that represent the most diverse intellectual and cultural traditions, and contribute substantially to the territorial development of the regions, from Arica and Parinacota to Magallanes.

Objective of the competition

The objective of the competition is to receive design proposals for a new image or graphic brand that reflects the evolution of a key organization in the field of Higher Education in Chile, as well as its commitment to academic excellence, innovation and service to society.

This competition is organized by the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities, with the collaboration of the academic units gathered in the Network of Design Schools (ReDis) of the CRUCH.

Specific considerations of the competition

The new image—which could replace the current brand—must identify and represent CRUCH, considering its history, evolution, and future challenges, in addition to its application in different supports and media.

This competition aims to:

  • To renew the visual identity of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH), reflecting its trajectory, values and vision for the future, and strengthening its presence and recognition at the national and international level.
  • To reinforce the perception of CRUCH as a leading entity in the development and strengthening of Higher Education.
  • Ensure that the new visual identity is integrated into all CRUCH activities, communication materials and events, increasing its visibility and consistency.
  • Create communication materials that highlight the strengths and opportunities that CRUCH offers as an organization that advises and formulates proposals to the Ministry of Education on public policies and that coordinates the universities that comprise it, in accordance with Article 5 of Law No. 21,091 on Higher Education and its Organic Statute.

The design of the proposal and its content must:

  • Reflect creativity and originality; institutional coherence; adaptability; visual impact; and differentiation.
  • Identify the CRUCH and represent what is required in the brief, renewing the visual identity and reflecting the institutional and corporate values of the organization.
  • To give an account of the history and evolution of CRUCH, as well as its future challenges for the development of the country.
  • Consider the application on different platforms and media.
  • The proposed design should be versatile and functional across various formats and platforms, including digital media, print, and physical signage, ensuring consistent and effective application across all materials.
