The authority will lead the institution for the next four years.
The Governing Council of the Diego Portales University, in compliance with its duty to appoint every four years the person who will lead the institution, and in light of what is prescribed in the statutes, has proceeded to carry out a series of consultations with the university community regarding the institutional work and the role that the rector has in it.
As a result of these consultations—made to the members of the academic council, the tenured professors, the deans, the unions, the students, the administration officials and the expanded external advisory council, whose opinions were convergent—it has been decided unanimously by its members to renew Professor Carlos Peña as rector of the university for the next period in recognition of the work that he, and those who accompany him in the administration, have carried out during these years.
The Council especially values the role that Professor Peña, as an intellectual, has played in building and safeguarding the ethos of the Diego Portales University, whose main feature is academic excellence and the critical independence of each of its members.
