About recognition

The Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH) is an institution with over 70 years of history and an unwavering commitment to the public good. In this vein, and following the successful conclusion of its first iteration in 2024, We are opening the second call for applications for the “CRUCH Recognition for Contribution to Higher Education” 2026.

Currently, the Council is made up of the rectors of the 30 most prestigious universities in the country, which represent diverse intellectual traditions and contribute substantially to the territorial development of Chile, from Arica and Parinacota to Magallanes.

With this new call, the plenary of rectors and rectors reaffirms its commitment to continue honoring the institutional legacy initiated in 1954, highlighting those who, through their work, strengthen the Higher Education system of our nation.

 

Application requirements

  • Application form, as per Annex 1. Download HERE
  • Sworn Statement, according to Annex 2. Download HERE
  • Cover letter addressed to the Council of Rectors of the
    Chilean Universities. The candidate may be nominated by a
    natural person, an organization or institution, or self-nominate.
  • Extensive Curriculum Vitae (CVE)
  • Executive summary of the CVE (maximum 3 pages).
  • Two letters of support and sponsorship for the candidate, signed by people other than the person making the presentation.
  • Check all the requirements in the ""Terms and Conditions of the Call for Proposals".

Selection criteria

  • Originality and innovation of contributions to the Higher Education System.
  • Impact on the Chilean Higher Education System.
  • Applicant's background.
  • Applicant leadership.

Award ceremony

The presentation of the “CRUCH Recognition for Contribution to Higher Education” will take place within the framework of the session of the CRUCH of the month of August 2026.
