The meeting, which was attended by the Secretary General of CRUCH, Angélica Bosch, and the Rector of USACH, Rodrigo Vidal, who is also in charge of the Council's Internationalization Commission, sought to promote bi-regional cooperation.
The Secretary General of the Council of Rectors and Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH), Angélica Bosch, together with the Rector in charge of the Internationalization Commission of the Council and highest authority of the University of Santiago (USACH), Rodrigo Vidal, were part of the XXIII Plenary of the Ibero-American University Council (CUIB), which was held on June 4 and 5 in Madrid, Spain.
The meeting, which was attended by representatives of various Ibero-American university organizations, aimed to review the progress made by the Ibero-American Knowledge Space, as well as to promote institutional strengthening through bi-regional cooperation between the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European Union (EU).
“For CRUCH, it is very important to participate in these forums where we can converge with other institutions that bring together universities from Ibero-America, learn about examples of implementations in improvements to Higher Education in other countries, and hold conversations to work together,” said CRUCH Secretary General Angélica Bosch.
At the start of the meeting, the Ibero-American Secretary General, Andrés Allamand, outlined the CUIB's main lines of work in the field of Higher Education: advancing the recognition of degrees and periods of study; encouraging academic and talent mobility; promoting digital transformation; and improving cooperation in doctoral and postdoctoral training. King Felipe VI of Spain greeted the attendees.
About the CUIB
Established in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) in 2002, the CUIB brings together the national conferences, councils or associations of universities and institutions of Higher Education, together with the main university networks of the 22 countries that make up the Ibero-American community: 19 countries of Latin America and three of the Iberian Peninsula (Spain, Portugal and Andorra).
Its mission is to contribute to strengthening and consolidating a space for Ibero-American dialogue, as well as to promote the mandate of the Summit decisions in the field of social, cultural, knowledge and innovation cohesion in favor of the Ibero-American Community.
