The CRUCH unanimously appointed rectors to join the evaluation committees.

The nominations reinforce the role of the university system in defining the main state awards in science, arts and humanities.

The Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH) defined its representatives in the National Awards 2026 juries, a key instance in the selection of the highest distinctions awarded by the State of Chile in various areas of knowledge and culture.

The appointments were approved unanimously, combining reappointments for a second term and new appointments in various categories. In Applied and Technological Sciences, Juan Yuz, rector of the Federico Santa María Technical University, was reappointed. In Natural Sciences, Víctor Cubillos, rector of the University of Aysén, was appointed.

In the arts, the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH) ratified Carlos González, rector of the University of Playa Ancha of Educational Sciences, as a member of the jury for the National Prize for Musical Arts. Likewise, Egon Montecinos, rector of the Austral University of Chile, was appointed to the jury for the National Prize for History.

Finally, for the National Literature Prize, Narrative category, the participation of the rector of the University of Los Andes, José Antonio Guzmán, was defined.

The National Awards are granted by the State of Chile and its selection process involves juries composed of academic authorities, institutional representatives, and specialists in each discipline.
