goals

To train postgraduate students in Psychopedagogy and Special Education from an interdisciplinary perspective, with the ability to conduct research in the discipline and to integrate into interdisciplinary teams that contribute to its development.

Because it is an academic program, applicants to the Master's Program in Psychopedagogy and Special Education must have a clear interest in acquiring research skills in the discipline.

Graduate profile

Graduates of this program understand the complexity of human development, learning and its challenges, and the discipline's relationship to society, based on the theoretical and empirical contributions of Educational Psychology and Special Education, as well as related fields, within a framework of respect for human dignity, in accordance with the institution's mission. They construct knowledge in the discipline with social and ethical responsibility, working in teams or independently, applying the theoretical and methodological approaches appropriate to the nature of the problem. They communicate their research to the scientific community in their field, as well as to the broader educational community, using specialized and context-appropriate discourse genres.

Lines of investigation

Line 1: Cognitive Neuroscience and Special Education for Research on Learning and Difficulties in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics: This line studies the development of cognitive processes and their relationship to learning, information processing models, as well as the processes and instruments of psychoneurological assessment and intervention applied to research in Educational Psychology and Special Education. Furthermore, it investigates the relationship between cognitive processes and learning difficulties in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics that occur at different levels of formal education. It also analyzes research on the processes of assessment, diagnosis, and psychoeducational intervention in these cognitive processes, across the formal education system.
Line 2: Special Education and Society: This line of research, from an interdisciplinary perspective, connects with national policies in Special Education related to Educational Inclusion and Diversity, as well as with the specialist's research from a social perspective with a rights-based approach. From the standpoint of its relationship with the social sciences, it also investigates beliefs, perceptions, and representations in Special Education. Furthermore, it addresses the study of leadership and inclusive management in terms of leadership and decision-making in educational institutions to innovate and transform their processes, with pedagogical intent, according to identified needs and agreed-upon aspirations, for the benefit of students.
