The Ministers of Education and Science, Marco Ávila and Flavio Salazar, along with the Undersecretary of Higher Education, Verónica Figueroa, valued the contributions of CRUCH in the generation of knowledge and development from the regions.

Representatives of the Council's advisory committees highlighted the work carried out by CRUCH universities in various areas and topics of interest to the higher education system.

The executive vice president of CRUCH, Emilio Rodríguez, stated that “in the coming years our academic vigor must be strengthened to continue contributing to quality, equity and territorial development, from Arica to Punta Arenas.”.

“This institution has played a leading role in the design and implementation of public policies related to the development of higher education,” said Emilio Rodríguez (University of Tarapacá), executive vice president of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities, when taking stock of the CRUCH's 68 years.

As the anniversary month of this collegiate body draws to a close, national and university authorities have valued the contributions of CRUCH and its universities in almost seven decades of history.

In this regard, the Minister of Education and President of the Council, Marco Antonio Ávila, stated that “for us it is essential to have a constant dialogue with CRUCH, because it is an institution that we recognize as a contribution to the country, especially in the improvement of university teaching, scientific and technological advancement and local development that benefits many people.”.

The Minister of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, Flavio Salazar, also highlighted the contributions of the institution and its universities. “In 68 years they have made an enormous contribution to the development of our country, generating knowledge and training new generations of professionals (…) The government is open to all the support it can receive from CRUCH for building a more equitable, sustainable and harmonious country.”.

For her part, the Undersecretary of Higher Education, Verónica Figueroa, highlighted that “the history of CRUCH is marked by its contributions to breaking down stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination in our institutions and has contributed significantly to advancing in terms of excellence and quality.”.

Meanwhile, Rector Rodríguez stated that “in the coming years our academic strength must be reinforced to continue contributing to quality, equity and territorial development, from Arica to Punta Arenas.”.

Contributions from the advisory committees

Natacha Pino, rector of the University of Aysén and head of the CRUCH Gender Equality Commission, praised the work of the collegiate body and particularly this advisory group.

“I think it’s important to highlight the work we’ve been doing from each of the Gender Offices and Units at our universities. We have a big task ahead of us, which is to implement Law No. 21,639, but the committees have been working to incorporate a gender perspective into all university activities (…) This is an important issue at a social level, because it will generate changes and transformations,” said Pino.

Likewise, Andrea Rodríguez, Vice-Rector of Research and Development at the University of Concepción and President of the CRUCH Research Commission, stated that “the Council's universities are the main actors in knowledge generation at the national level and as such, we are fulfilling an important role in strengthening the ecosystem of science, technology, knowledge and innovation.”.

He also highlighted "our commitment at the national level and from the regions to create a knowledge-based society that promotes the sustainable development of the country.".

Meanwhile, Ruth Candia, Director of Student Academic Records at the University of La Frontera and President of the CRUCH Admission and Enrollment Commission, stated that “we appreciate the opportunity that the Council has always given us to address all issues related to higher education and admission, especially in recent years when we have faced great challenges.”.

Commitment to higher education

For her part, the Secretary General of CRUCH, Angélica Bosch, praised the contributions of the university presidents. “Over the past 15 years, I have participated in various Council bodies and have always witnessed the strong commitment to addressing issues, always with the best interests of the university system in mind.”.

Bosch also highlighted “the work of the CRUCH committees and the General Secretariat team, which supports all the Council's efforts and work.”.

As part of the Council's 68th anniversary, a commemorative video was produced that included greetings from the aforementioned national and university authorities.

Additionally, graphics were developed and disseminated on the CRUCH social networks.
