Civil industrial engineer María Angélica Bosch Cartagena will assume this position, after serving as advisor to the Ministry of Education, member of the EUNACOM Statistical Committee, executive director of the CRUCH Single Admission System and national coordinator of the School Admission System of the Undersecretariat of Education, among other responsibilities.
The President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, appointed María Angélica Bosch Cartagena as general secretary of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities, after analyzing a list of candidates selected through the Public Senior Management System (ADP).
The professional holds a degree in Industrial Civil Engineering from the University of Chile and a Master's degree in Statistics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Throughout her career, she has served as an advisor to the Ministry of Education, was a member of the EUNACOM Statistical Committee, Executive Director of the Unified Admission System of the Council of Rectors, and National Coordinator of the School Admission System of the Undersecretariat of Education. At the time of her appointment, she was Head of the Planning and Strategic Projects Unit at the University of Chile.
The selection process for this Senior Public Management position began in October 2021 with the publication of the call for applications in national media and on the Civil Service website. A total of 158 applications were received through the Online Application System and two through the specialized search service. Following analysis by consulting firms, the Senior Public Management Council interviewed nine shortlisted candidates and, last January, sent the list of eligible candidates to the President for appointment.
As Secretary General of the Council of Rectors, the new senior public official has, among other challenges, the task of fostering networking among member universities in areas defined as priorities, in order to promote academic collaboration and the development of higher education, and to contribute to strengthening the organization as a relevant actor for the national higher education system.
