goals

To train advanced human capital in the various branches of Theoretical Physics with training that allows them to solve current problems in the fields of Gravitation, theoretical cosmology and mathematical physics through research of international impact, thus contributing to the scientific development of the country and the consolidation of science in regions.

Applicant Profile

Applicants must be graduates of a Chilean or foreign university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics or related fields. Graduates with a Bachelor's degree in fields such as Mathematics and Physics Education or similar, or Engineering, who have completed a leveling course equivalent to the Diploma in Physics offered by ICEN-FdeC, may also apply.

Graduate profile

“The graduate of this program possesses a fundamental knowledge of Physics, understanding and applying the laws of the discipline, using the tools of classical mechanics, electrodynamics, statistical mechanics, and quantum mechanics to describe diverse natural phenomena. They are also capable of proposing original solutions to problems they can collaboratively identify in the areas of Gravitation and Cosmology and Mathematical Physics, through theoretical development and/or modeling with symbolic and/or numerical computation. In this way, they contribute to solving modern-day problems with a critical, collaborative, and innovative approach, contributing to disciplinary knowledge with original research results. Furthermore, in their work, the graduate communicates and participates in various spaces for research, teaching, dissemination, and scientific collaboration.« The specific competencies provided by the Master of Science program with a specialization in Theoretical Physics are as follows: C1 Apply the laws of physics, using fundamental tools of classical mechanics, electrodynamics, statistical mechanics, and quantum mechanics, to describe diverse natural phenomena through the research lines of "Gravitation and Cosmology" and "Mathematical Physics." C2 Use their knowledge to collaborate in the execution of research projects, through theoretical development and/or modeling with symbolic and/or numerical computation in the area of "Gravitation and Cosmology" and "Mathematical Physics," contributing to the resolution of modern-day problems with a critical and innovative approach. C3 Communicate the results of original research, developed collaboratively in the area of "Gravitation and Cosmology" and "Mathematical Physics," contributing to disciplinary knowledge for dissemination and collaboration in scientific networks and various teaching settings.
