goals

The overall objective of the Program is the training of researchers in the field of the History of Chile and America.
The specific objectives of the Program are:
a) To offer an opportunity for dialogue and in-depth analysis of the theoretical proposals and methodological innovations that guide the current practice of the historical discipline.
b) To introduce students of the Program to the most recent historiographical trends, considering the contributions of other social sciences and humanities.
c) Develop methodological tools specific to the discipline, orienting them towards the creation of historiographical knowledge, the systematization of the use of sources and the development of techniques relevant to the themes and approaches of the Program.

Applicant Profile

a) Hold a Bachelor's degree or Professional Title in the field of History, or in a related discipline, of at least eight semesters in duration. In the case of related disciplines, the Program Committee will evaluate the relevance of the applicant's academic background.
b) Exhibit a grade point average that places him in the top third of his graduating class.
c) Having developed teaching or research assistantships; or having participated in academic conferences, congresses or seminars.
d) Verify reading comprehension of the English language at a basic level in the discipline, through a test carried out by the Program.
e) Submit a research proposal consistent with the lines of the Program.

Graduate profile

Graduates of the Master's program in History of Chile and America will be able to:
a) To discuss and problematize the main current historiographical lines and debates.
b) To design theoretical and methodological proposals to develop research projects independently in the field of historiography
c) Demonstrate research skills to participate in work teams in the field of History or Social Sciences.
d) To raise awareness in the field of the History of Chile and America, in the thematic lines developed by the Program.
