goals
To understand the most relevant nutritional and dietary problems in the country and the region and their risk factors, as well as the methodologies for designing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion and disease prevention programs related to nutrition. Graduates work in teaching and research at universities, in government positions, especially at the level of Ministries of Health and Planning and in other government agencies (JUNJI, INTEGRA, JUNAEB, etc.), or in non-governmental organizations.
Applicant Profile
Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree or a professional qualification, Chilean or foreign, with a level, content, and duration of study similar to those required to obtain a Bachelor's degree from the University of Chile. The program is geared towards healthcare professionals, especially nutritionists, nurses, and physicians, as well as physical education teachers and social work professionals such as sociologists and psychologists.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this specialization will acquire a solid foundation in formative research, enabling them to critically evaluate the nutritional situation based on national and international evidence. They will be able to analyze the successes and failures of national and international experiences related to public health and nutrition. They will be qualified to design, plan, and evaluate health and nutrition promotion programs, thereby contributing to public policies for health promotion and the prevention of nutrition-related chronic diseases.
