goals

The Master's Program in Mental Health and Community Psychiatry has as its fundamental objectives that its graduates:
1.- Develop skills for the analysis and understanding of the theoretical, social and political bases that guide the mental health and community psychiatry model.
2.- Develop skills to understand and apply epidemiological tools for the diagnosis and search for solutions to mental health and community psychiatry problems.
3.- Develop skills for the analysis and design of strategies and tools that improve the management and care processes of mental health and community psychiatry services, so that they contribute to the quality of life of users and their satisfaction with the services provided.
4.- Develop skills for the analysis and application of ethical criteria that allow a process of constant improvement in the respect for human rights in the process of mental health care and community psychiatry.

Applicant Profile

1.- Possess a Bachelor's degree or professional title whose level, content and duration of studies correspond to an equivalent training to that of a Bachelor's degree at the University of Chile.
2.- The professional degree or title may correspond to different disciplinary fields.
3. Proficiency in English at the reading comprehension level. In the case of applicants who are native speakers of Spanish, demonstrate adequate oral and written command of the Spanish language.

Graduate profile

Graduates of the Master's Program in Mental Health and Community Psychiatry will be able to:
1.- Apply ethical criteria in the analysis, discussion and decision-making in the field of mental health and community psychiatry.
2.- Practice respect for human rights in the field of mental health and community psychiatry.
3.- To use human, community, environmental, material, financial and information resources efficiently in mental health and community psychiatry services.
4.- Recognize the value of public management in the field of mental health and community psychiatry.
5.- Critically explain the institutional, economic, political and cultural framework in which the health/illness/care process occurs and develops in the field of mental health and community psychiatry.
6.- Critically apply the theoretical and methodological framework that guides the community approach in mental health and psychiatry.
7.- To employ epidemiological thinking and tools in the diagnosis of mental health problems in a community and in the search for solutions.
8.- Critically use knowledge derived from scientific research in solving mental health and psychiatric problems in the community.
9. Apply quantitative and qualitative methodologies in the design and evaluation of plans, programs and services for mental health and community psychiatry.
10.- Evaluate the functioning of mental health services, based on the critical analysis of available information and reflection on their experiences and practices.
11.- Plan strategies for the development and improvement of the quality of mental health and psychiatry services, in the context of national and local policies, based on the community model and a participatory management approach.
12.- Apply strategies for promoting mental health and preventing mental disorders, with a perspective of synergy with meso and macro policies that address structural aspects of social determinants.
13.- Apply strategies for the participation of users and family members in organizations and in the functioning of mental health and community psychiatry services.
14.- Apply basic management tools for mental health and community psychiatry services resources, care processes and outcomes, prioritizing user satisfaction.
15.- To use mental health and community psychiatry work tools for the care of people with mental health problems or illnesses, as well as addressing social determinants.
