goals

Develop the ability to link musical practices with historical, social and cultural aspects in Chile and Latin America / Understand diverse realities of the musical field in Chile and Latin America from a multidisciplinary perspective / Apply musical research to practical realities, through activities that allow a concrete link between both areas.

Applicant Profile

This Master's program welcomes individuals with and without formal musical training. Those with formal musical training may focus their research on articulating structural, expressive, and/or aesthetic aspects of music with historical, social, or cultural phenomena. Those without formal musical training may focus their work on aspects related to music itself, such as audience studies; production and consumption processes; institutions; power relations; transculturation processes; and anything that allows us to observe music as a historically situated social practice. In both cases, participants will develop an interdisciplinary understanding of music by linking it to history, culture, and society from a Latin American perspective. • Bachelor's degree or equivalent university professional qualification
of at least eight semesters in areas of
knowledge related to the program
(certified copy)
