Applicant Profile

The applicant must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering or related fields; must possess interest and maturity to conduct applied research in the impact areas of electrical engineering within the program's lines of specialization; must possess self-learning ability, communication skills, and the willingness to integrate into interdisciplinary work groups; must have sufficient command of the English language to acquire knowledge in the discipline from written material

Graduate profile

The Master of Science in Engineering program with a specialization in Electrical Engineering aims to train graduates who will benefit society through the application of advanced knowledge in electrical engineering sciences and applied research in their areas of impact. The program offers advanced disciplinary training in the theoretical and methodological foundations of electrical engineering sciences, which are integrated into the development of a research project during the master's thesis.

The competencies of the program graduate are:
1. To devise innovative solutions to complex problems in the impact areas of Electrical Engineering, based on the state of the art of the discipline and considering its effects on society.
2. Evaluate solutions to complex problems through critical analysis in the context of the state of the art of the discipline.
3. Lead research and development projects by integrating work teams.
4. Apply scientific concepts, tools and methodologies to solve problems specific to Electrical Engineering and its areas of impact.
5. Communicate research and development results to the scientific community and society.

Lines of investigation

– Electrical Energy Conversion and Control, this research area combines the lines of design and control of electrical machines, electrical drives and static converters oriented to the development of equipment and systems for energy conversion, power quality and the distribution and marketing of energy.
– Embedded Optical Systems and Control: This is a multi- and interdisciplinary research area that primarily studies the relationship between chemical, biological, astronomical, geological, biotechnological, mechanical, and materials science processes, among others, and fundamental electromagnetism. This study begins with the mathematical modeling of the relationships between the variables of interest in a complex problem, and then develops and implements solutions using digital control and information technologies and theories.
– Biomedical Technologies for Health, this line of research uses the knowledge base in different areas of electrical engineering to apply it to the research of new systems or processes, techniques and/or procedures that improve the quality of life of people.
