goals
General objective
To train graduates capable of collaboratively developing research in the dental discipline according to methodological and ethical standards of excellence, with productive capacity that is expressed in an active participation in research projects, publications in mainstream journals and communication of the development of dental science to the general community.
Specific objectives
– To train graduates with the fundamental skills for the development of research in dental sciences with ethical standards and scientific rigor of excellence.
– To promote scientific production in dental sciences, contributing to its development from a critical perspective.
– To strengthen communication of research in the area of dental sciences.
– To prepare graduates with the skills to critique and transfer the products of disciplinary research to practice, for the benefit of the health of individuals and the community.
Applicant Profile
Licensed dentists and/or dental surgeons graduated from national or foreign universities recognized by the state, who have an interest in the development of scientific research in some area of the different disciplines and specialties of dentistry
The applicant must demonstrate a good prior academic and scientific performance, with a strong social and ethical vocation.
Prior work experience in the national or foreign public or private sector is desirable.
Graduate profile
Graduates of the Master of Science in Dentistry program at the University of Concepción will be able to:
1. Critically evaluate the scientific production of your specialty, within the framework of the real contribution to knowledge with ethical commitment.
2. Develop the methodological bases for research in dental sciences at the levels of basic science, clinical and epidemiology.
3. Participate in the planning and execution of research projects in the different areas and disciplinary levels of dentistry, in accordance with ethical and methodological standards of excellence.
4. Work collaboratively and interdisciplinarily in the development of research in dental sciences in university settings, research centers, clinical care or health administration.
5. Communicate the results of dental research in scientific, academic and community contexts.
Lines of investigation
– Special patients: Research focused on those patients who require specific care in their dental care due to their physical, intellectual, mental, sensory, social and/or medical deficits.
– Public health and oral epidemiology: Research focused on understanding the determinants of health with an emphasis on problems at the level of public services in the family and community health model.
– Oral Biology and Dental Biomaterials: Research focused on the physiological and pathological biological processes (cancer, regeneration, infections, and others) that occur in the oral cavity, as well as on dental biomaterials, their characteristics, properties, and interaction with the oral environment. Areas of study range from laboratory experimentation (in vitro) to clinical trials.
