The Program's general objective is to offer a Master's degree aimed at perfecting and developing in professionals and graduates the capacity to investigate based on problems or phenomena of the social sciences.

Applicant Profile

Students in the Master's Program in Social Sciences hold a bachelor's degree or professional title in fields related to or connected with the Social Sciences. They demonstrate an academic profile through participation in research projects, teaching experience, participation in publications and/or presentations at conferences, and/or academic excellence in their undergraduate studies. Furthermore, they declare their intention to pursue an academic or research career.

Graduate profile

The Master of Social Sciences program at the University of La Frontera equips graduates with the skills to (1) analyze social reality at different scales and perspectives, (2) formulate and develop research projects, and (3) disseminate knowledge in the field. They possess disciplinary theoretical training and epistemological and methodological foundations. Their training enables them to (1.1) analyze social problems by applying diverse theories and methods specific to the social sciences to formulate descriptive and/or explanatory hypotheses; (2.1) independently develop research projects to study social reality at different scales and perspectives; and (3.1) effectively communicate their disciplinary knowledge and research results to specialized audiences, both orally and in writing. Graduates demonstrate critical thinking, ethical conduct, and the ability to work effectively in teams. Graduates with a Master's degree in Social Sciences from the University of La Frontera will be able to work in higher education institutions, social research centers, public agencies, and non-governmental organizations in the public or private sector.”
