The director of the Unified Admission System of the Council of Rectors, Dr. María Elena González, highlighted that this year the administration of the PSU, the delivery of results and the applications will end before the end of the year holidays.

Regarding the Grade Ranking, the calculation introduced in the previous admissions process will remain in place. The PSU will be administered on November 21 and 22, 2016.

At the monthly meeting of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities held last Thursday, the 2017 Admission Process Calendar was approved, which defines that this year the University Selection Tests (PSU) will be held on Monday, November 21 and Tuesday, November 22, 2016.

As usual, the Language and Communication test will be administered at 9:00 a.m. on the first day, followed by the Science test at 2:30 p.m. The next day, also at 9:00 a.m., the Mathematics test will be administered, and in the afternoon (2:30 p.m.), the History, Geography, and Social Sciences test will be given. The test results will be released on Monday, December 19, at 8:00 a.m., and applications will be accepted from that same day until Friday, December 23, at 1:00 p.m.

“It is important to note that this year, all parties involved in the admissions process made an effort to ensure that the administration of the PSU (University Selection Test), the release of results, and the application period concluded before the end-of-year holidays. This is a highly complex process that requires coordinating a series of actions to ensure its success and has significant consequences for applicants. Therefore, we hope that this adjustment to the dates will allow students and their families to approach this process with greater peace of mind,“ stated Dr. María Elena González, Director of the Unified Admissions System (SUA) of the Council of Rectors.

Other dates of the 2017 Calendar

The director of the SUA highlighted that the Admissions Process consists of five stages: registration, taking the PSU (University Selection Test), applying to universities, university selection, and enrollment. “Each stage has important milestones that students should keep in mind to participate in the process in the most advantageous way for them. The information needed to understand these stages will be published in various official documents throughout the year,” explained María Elena González.

The first relevant documents are: “Contents of the University Selection Tests,” which will be published on April 14. Subsequently, on June 9, the “Rules and Important Aspects of the Admission Process” will be released, providing the necessary information for students to know their rights and responsibilities; and the “List of Programs and Weightings.”.

The registration period for the PSU (University Selection Test) will begin next Monday, June 13, and will run until Friday, August 5. This means there will be a 54-day period to register online through the website of DEMRE (Department of Educational Evaluation, Measurement, and Registration of the University of Chile), the body responsible for administering the admissions process as mandated by CRUCH (Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities). Compared to last year, the deadline has been extended by seven days to make it easier for students to register.

The application period will begin on Monday, December 19th at 9:00 AM and will run until Friday, December 23rd at 1:00 PM. As in previous years, students will have approximately five days to apply.

The results of the university selection process will be published on Monday, January 9th at 8:00 a.m., and the registration period will begin afterward. Registration will take place between Monday, January 9th and Monday, January 18th.

The detailed schedule, which contains each of the stages of the 2017 admissions process, is available from today on the website of the Single Admissions System of the Council of Rectors (www.sua-cruch.cl) and also on that of DEMRE (www.demre.cl).

Ranking of notes

Regarding the Grade Ranking, the calculation method introduced in the previous admissions process will remain in place. This means that the Grade Ranking Score will consider all schools the student attended during secondary education, allowing for a more accurate assessment of the student's performance within their specific context, which aligns with the purpose of this selection criterion.

To allow applicants to estimate their Ranking Score, the Ranking Simulator will be available on the DEMRE website on Thursday, November 3rd.
