In a meeting between representatives of institutions that make up CRUCH and Jesús Sebastián, the internationalization of the science, technology and innovation system was discussed.

At the Secretariat of the Council of Rectors, Jesús Sebastián, a Spanish expert in the internationalization of the university system, met with a group of universities.

The dialogue revolved around current concepts of internationalization of higher education, leaving behind notions of international relations, given that the new challenges of university institutions imply a growing transversality of the international sphere, crossing the areas of mobility, but fundamentally the production of knowledge in networks that transcend the borders of each nation.

While the representatives of the universities in the Council of Rectors shared these guidelines, they also acknowledged that the international dimension in higher education institutions remains within a more restrictive and less strategic framework.

When addressing internationalization in the science, technology and innovation system, Jesús Sebastián highlighted that in our country there is no policy for scientific development, but rather a great diversity of competitive programs; which makes it difficult for the universities themselves to generate strategic orientations.

This dialogue with Jesús Sebastián was of particular interest to the CRUCH universities, given that the challenge of internationalizing higher education is a topic that cannot be ignored today.
