During the meeting, the institutions of both countries participated in a round of bilateral talks in which they found common ground and exchanged information about their campuses.
A successful dialogue between universities in New Zealand and Chile took place at the Catholic University's Extension Center. The event, organized by the New Zealand Embassy and the Council of Rectors, brought together 19 institutions, which had the opportunity to hold a series of bilateral talks throughout the day.
The event also featured presentations by Gloria Maldonado of Innova Chile and Cecilia Collado, International Mobility Coordinator at the University of Concepción. Cecilia presented the work carried out by the universities of the Council of Rectors in various productive and research areas, highlighting the high level of the institutions belonging to CRUCH.
On behalf of New Zealand institutions, Alexander Gillespie, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Waikato, and Margaret Noble, Chief Executive of the Waiariki Institute of Technology spoke.
Among the New Zealand authorities present were Charles Holmes, who is president of the country's Education Council, and Lisa Futschek, Regional Director for Latin America, Korea and Japan in Education.
The attendees highlighted the opportunity to discuss common ground with foreign institutions and the possibility of establishing direct contact networks that would allow for future collaboration.
The New Zealand delegation was made up of representatives from New Zealand University, Lincoln University, Maassey University, Victoria University of Wellington and Waikato University; in addition to the technical institutes Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology – CPIT, Unitec Institute of Technology, Waiariki Institute of Technology, Waikato Institute of Technology –Wintec and Whitireia Polytechnic.
On behalf of CRUCH, the following universities participated: University of Concepción, Arturo Prat University, Austral University of Chile, Federico Santa María Technical University, University of Tarapacá, Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, University of Magallanes, Catholic University of the North, University of Santiago de Chile and Catholic University of the Most Holy Conception.
