Academic authorities were informed about the new factor in the admissions process and learned about its attributes from the point of view of inclusion and equity.
«"There was a very productive dialogue," said Juan Manuel Zolezzi, executive vice president of the Council of Rectors.
At the offices of the Council of Rectors, a meeting was held between representatives of this body and eight rectors of private universities affiliated with the University Admission and Selection Process, who, on the occasion of the incorporation of the Grade Ranking as an additional factor to the process, shared and analyzed the meaning and impact that its inclusion in the admission system may have.
The executive vice president of CRUCH, Rector Juan Manuel Zolezzi, explained to representatives of private universities the nature of the ranking system and the improvements it represents in terms of inclusion and equity for the most vulnerable students in the country. “There was a very productive dialogue; the topic was discussed, and suggestions were even received for future changes to the admissions process,” he noted.
The rector of Alberto Hurtado University, Fernando Montes, stated upon leaving the meeting that "this is a first step so that we can jointly examine the problems of Chilean education and correct the excesses that exist, and in that, the ideal is that we all have the same standards and the same requirements.".
Rector Zolezzi also reiterated that the announcement of the exact formula and the percentages that will be awarded for the ranking will be analyzed in the next plenary session on Thursday, June 28, at the Federico Santa María Technical University.
