Following the meeting held on July 26, both parties agreed to sign a document that includes 17 points of consensus.

The Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH) and representatives of the Confederation of Students of Chile (CONFECH) met this Tuesday, July 26, when the students gave their response to the document “Points of Convergence”, prepared by the rectors.

CONFECH expressed its agreement with 17 of the 18 points raised by the university rectors and agreed to sign a joint document. The only issue the students decided not to accept was the one concerning ending the protests.
“We, as university presidents, believe that it is perfectly compatible, and even more so, that it is necessary for academic activities in universities to be normalized, and at the same time that universities provide opportunities to maintain internal debate and what we could call an active mobilization of the point of view of debate and participation of our communities,” said the executive vice president of CRUCH, Víctor Pérez.
On this point, the president of the FECH, Camila Vallejo, stated that "it is necessary to discuss it in university communities, because it has to do with the projection of the movement.".
Rector Pérez also added that “there are 17 points where there is convergence, and we believe that what needs to be done now is to continue moving forward so that the deadlines and content are met.”.
