In Guadalajara, Mexico, the second International Meeting of Rectors convened by Universia took place, bringing together 985 rectors and delegations from 72 other Ibero-American universities to discuss the university of the future.
To continue the symposium held in Seville, Spain in 2005, this Second International Meeting of Rectors was held with the motto «"Towards a socially responsible Ibero-American space for knowledge.".
The event was organized by Universia on May 31 and June 1, 2010, and brought together rectors and presidents from a network of more than 1000 Spanish and Portuguese-speaking universities to discuss in Guadalajara, Mexico the challenges that a globalized world poses to Ibero-American universities.
The rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso (PUCV), Alfonso Muga, participated in this meeting and gave a presentation entitled "Teaching Activity: New Forms and New Scope".
The objective of the meeting was to explore opportunities for creating a space for global university cooperation and to define the tasks to be developed by a university committed to society and its future challenges in order to better fulfill its educational, research and entrepreneurial role.
Another topic considered as one of the central themes of this meeting was the Ibero-American Knowledge Space, as an opportunity to contribute to the internationalization of the Ibero-American university.
