The plenary session with admissions representatives from the 30 institutions of the Council of Rectors was held at the University of La Serena.

The members of the Admission and Enrollment Commission of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH) met at the University of La Serena on November 13 and 14, to analyze the best practices and the operation of the 2025 Admission process.

During the meeting, they analyzed aspects such as the resignation-release module, data security, and the internal regulations for student representatives. They also discussed admission to teacher training programs, which presents a challenge for universities.

The Rector of the University of La Serena, Dr. Luperfina Rojas, in her welcoming remarks, stated that “It is a pleasure to welcome the 30 representatives of the CRUCH universities to our institution today, mainly because this Admissions Commission carries out a very important process in our institutions, since they operationalize all the decisions that are made.”.

For its part, the President of the CRUCH Admissions Committee and  DRuth Candia Cisterna, Director of Student Academic Registration at the University of La Frontera (UFRO), explained that “this type of activity involves agreeing on a range of topics that are directly related to the successful development of admission for the training of future professionals, and among these, the resignation-release module.”.

Another concern relates to The aspects arising from the new Data Protection Law, which involves working in advance on the changes that universities will have to implement to safeguard the data of applicants and enrolled students.

At the end of the meeting, the commission president and all the delegates expressed their concern about the lack of information they are still working with, since “it is November and we still do not have all the processes defined for the admission that formally begins on January 6. We hope that this will change in the short term,” argued the Commission President, Ruth Candia.

The commission president added that “good practices in admission and enrollment, resignations, calls for reapplication, waiting lists, what should or should not be done, are issues that concern us and keep us attentive.”.
