The text, developed collaboratively by people from across Chile, proposes a cross-cutting roadmap for the coming decades. The document identifies six megatrends and four strategic pillars of development in areas such as sustainability, science and innovation, equity, democracy, and security.

Today we are presenting our preliminary document, which will continue to be refined over the years, to those currently running for the highest office in Chile, with the aim of guiding the country's development in the coming years,” he emphasized. In a highly symbolic ceremony, presidential candidates received the document "Cross-cutting Proposals for Chile in 2050" from children and teenagers. The document was prepared as part of the Proyecta Chile 2050 initiative. The ceremony, held at the Catholic University's Extension Center, brought together representatives from the public, private, academic, and civil society sectors, marking a milestone of dialogue and collaboration around a shared vision for the country's future.
Among those in attendance were presidential candidates Eduardo Artés, Marco Enríquez-Ominami, Jeannette Jara, Harold Mayne-Nicholls, and Franco Parisi. Also present were Jorge Atton, from José Antonio Kast's campaign; Paula Daza, representing Evelyn Matthei's campaign; and Juan Carlos Urzúa, secretary general of the National Libertarian Party, representing Johannes Kaiser.
The candidates received the document from children wearing t-shirts with the age they will be in 2050, representing the generations that will inhabit the Chile of the future.
The document “Cross-cutting proposals for Chile in 2050”"It summarizes more than a year of collaborative work between universities, research centers, business associations, social organizations, and government representatives. Its purpose is to serve as a basis for the design of public policies and long-term strategic decisions that transcend electoral cycles and promote sustainable, equitable, and inclusive development.".

“What we have given to the candidates is a document that represents collaborative work and ad honorem of more than 2,000 people, which represents the possibility of having a
shared common purpose. I hope that whoever is president next understands that this document is a starting point, that there are strategic challenges, and that Chile can be as prosperous as Australia, Canada, or New Zealand, but for that to happen, there must be a shared purpose,” he said. Guido Girardi, executive vice president of the Encuentros del Futuro Foundation.
The symbolic handover was led by Constanza Camilo, spokesperson for Fundación Tremendas and participant in Proyecta Chile 2050, who emphasized the importance of listening to new generations. “Listening to young people is not a symbolic gesture, it is a democratic decision. If we want to build a country with a vision for the future, we have to do it together with those who will live that future: the children and young people who are already imagining a greener, fairer, and more supportive Chile.”.
The presidential candidates praised the initiative as an exercise in dialogue and collective reflection that transcends government programs. They agreed on the need to move toward state policies that integrate scientific evidence, sustainability, and social justice as pillars of development.
Proyecta Chile 2050 is an initiative driven by the entire higher education ecosystem, the Chilean Academy of Sciences, Congreso Futuro, the Challenges of the Future Commission of the Senate of Chile, SOFOFA, the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC), and coordinated by the Encuentros del Futuro Foundation in collaboration with Fundación Chile.

This strategic initiative places sustainability, equity, and innovation at the heart of the conversation about the country's future. Building a long-term roadmap, based on evidence and intergenerational dialogue, is essential to moving towards fairer and more resilient development.
Along the same lines, the rector of the University of Chile, Rosa Devés, He emphasized the value of knowledge in rebuilding trust and strengthening democracy: “Research and innovation offer us a common language, based on reflection and evidence, which is effective in combating disinformation and strengthening social trust, allowing public policies to be built on informed consensus.”.
