Investigation Commission
- The Undersecretary of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation (CTCI), Carolina Gainza, presented the Ministry's strategic definitions, such as overcoming gender gaps and generating national projects related to lithium, green hydrogen, artificial intelligence, among others.
- The session of the Commission of Vice-Rectors of the Council of Rectors was held at the Austral University of Chile, in Valdivia, and had a high participation of its representatives.
The Research Advisory Commission of the Council of Rectors held its first meeting of the year at the Austral University of Chile, in Valdivia, with the Undersecretary of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation (CTCI), Carolina Gainza, as the main guest.
The president of the commission and Vice-Rector of Research at the Pontifical Catholic University, Dr. Pedro Bouchon, expressed his satisfaction with the high level of interest generated by the meeting, which was attended by nearly 40 representatives. “Practically all the universities that make up CRUCH were present, including vice-rectors and directors of research, with whom we addressed the various challenges we face,” he commented at the end of the working session, held on May 11 and 12.
On this occasion, the Undersecretary of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation (CTCI), Carolina Gainza, along with her team, outlined the strategic definitions of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation (CTCI), with emphasis on “science, technology, knowledge and innovation that advances in ending gender gaps; that generates strategic projects for the country, such as lithium, green hydrogen and artificial intelligence; and that is linked with society, aiming at the decentralization of knowledge and strengthening research in higher education institutions.”.
Then, the Vice-Rectors and Directors of Research inquired about the 2024 Budget and the decentralization policy and its funding. In response, the Undersecretary stated that priorities include advancing structural funding; institutional growth for the Ministry; and improvements in decentralization, regional development, and its contribution to the country. Regarding structural funding, she indicated that the possibility of advancing through performance agreements is being explored.
Finally, the board presented the activities carried out to date by the Research Commission, highlighting the work with the National Research and Development Agency (ANID) and the working groups established with the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation. The day concluded with presentations and progress reports from each of the aforementioned working groups.
The investigative committee, chaired by Pedro Bouchon, also includes the Vice-Rector of the University of Valparaíso, Soledad Torres (UV), and the Vice-Rector of the University of Chile, Enrique Aliste. The Rector of the University of La Frontera, Eduardo Hebel, is also part of the committee.
