The call for nominations to elect the members of the COSOC of the Council of Rectors will be open until Monday, August 29, 2022, at 12:00 pm.
The invitation is directed to non-profit legal entities that work on issues such as equity and inclusion in higher education, quality in this field and human capital development, among others.
The Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH) has extended the deadline for applications to elect the members of its Civil Society Council (COSOC). The application period, which was originally set to close this Friday, July 29, will now be extended. until Monday, August 29, at 12:00 pm.
This call for proposals complies with Law No. 20,500 on Associations and Citizen Participation in Public Management. It is aimed at non-profit legal entities related to the areas of expertise of the CRUCH (Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities), such as equity and inclusion in higher education; quality of higher education; human capital development for the country's progress; the social role of universities; and emerging areas or issues linked to the needs of citizens.
“We are interested in contributing to the improvement of higher education, promoting equity and inclusion within the system, and we know that throughout the country there are people and organizations working in this same direction, so it is necessary to join forces,” said the general secretary of CRUCH, Angélica Bosch.
Open invitation
The CRUCH Civil Society Council will be composed of a minimum of six and a maximum of eight organizations. Members of this body will serve indefinitely.
Organizations with legal personality in Chile and whose work objective is related to the topics of competence of CRUCH may participate in this call.
Regarding the candidacies of representatives, members of the institutions already described may be nominated, provided they are sponsored by these institutions and do not present any of the disqualifications established in article 15 of the Regulations on the Operation and Composition of the COSOC of the Council of Rectors, That is, to be officials in any capacity of the CRUCH and hold an elected office.
Application requirements
Organizations interested in participating in this call for proposals must complete a registration form, available on our website, in the section Citizen participation.
In addition, they must submit: a) a certificate of validity of the organization; b) statutes or constitution document of the organization duly legalized, c) document that accredits the legal representation of the organization, and d) a curriculum vitae or dossier of the organization that specifies its work associated with the topics of competence of the CRUCH.
In the case of those who represent the organization or are designated for the purpose of their integration into the COSOC, the following must be presented: a) a certification delivered by the person who presides over or represents the organization accrediting the membership of the person who is applying and b) a curriculum vitae of the candidate that specifies their experience in the topics of competence of the Council.
Groups will only be able to register one candidate.

Selection of members
The Secretary General of CRUCH will designate the organizations that will make up the COSOC, within a period of 30 working days from the day of the end of the application period.
This selection will be made after evaluating the background information submitted by the groups. To ensure transparency in the selection process, the evaluation will be based on criteria specified in the terms and conditions of the call for applications, available on the website of the Council of Rectors, Citizen Participation section.
