Given the serious situation affecting Ukraine, the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH), consistent with its commitment to respecting the values of democracy, plurality and dialogue for the peaceful development of society, expresses its deepest solidarity with the children, young people, women and men who are victims of the current conflict.
As the Council of Rectors, we join the call from various countries and international organizations for a ceasefire and for urgent diplomatic action to address the complexity of the current sociopolitical conflict.
While emphatically condemning all acts of violence and violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms, we maintain that dialogue and peace are irreplaceable for social coexistence. We urge the parties to negotiate and reach solutions that will restore peaceful coexistence.
Finally, we express our support for the academic and student communities, and for every individual who is part of the universities in Ukraine, and we are available to channel any assistance they may require.
