The Master's Program in Health Psychology is a specialization program for professional and academic practice, aimed at graduates in Psychology and other disciplines of Health Sciences.
Graduate profile
Graduates of the Master's Program in Health Psychology will have developed cognitive, instrumental, and attitudinal competencies aimed at promoting and preventing general health problems. They will possess knowledge of theories and models in health psychology and be able to analyze them critically. They will have knowledge of and the ability to analyze the main epidemiological characteristics of the Chilean population. They will be able to implement evidence-based professional interventions in health psychology, appropriate to different contexts. They will be able to reflect ethically on health problems and professional practice. They will be able to value and work in multidisciplinary teams, both professional and academic.
Lines of investigation
The teaching and research team of the Master's Program in Health Psychology organizes its work around three main lines of research, which also constitute areas of development in which students can focus their training. These lines of research are: Teams and communication in healthcare contexts, with topics addressing the doctor-patient relationship, adherence to pharmacological treatments, and burnout in healthcare teams; Intervention and prevention, with topics such as pain management, prevention of teenage pregnancy, parental relationships and substance use, and the development of interventions for patients with chronic conditions; and Response and preparedness for natural disasters, with early interventions in mental health, resilience and mental health, and individual and collective evacuation and preparedness.
