goals

To train graduates in the field of Social Work, who understand and deepen the disciplinary discussion, with the ability to carry out basic research and intervention, based on the social problems existing in contemporary society.

Applicant Profile

Applicants will be selected who meet the requirement of having obtained a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent professional title in the field of Social Work, or from the social sciences or related disciplines (Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Social Communication, among others), whose level, content and duration of studies correspond to an equivalent training to that of the Bachelor's degree from the University of Chile.

Graduate profile

1.- Development and conceptual mastery of some debates relating to contemporary approaches in social work, social theories and public policy perspectives.
2.- Aptitudes and skills for scientific research, expressed in the appropriate handling of theoretical-methodological tools that allow the identification of research questions and problems, the design of rigorous premises and procedures, as well as the performance of critical analyses based on the results.
3. Skills and abilities to contextualize the intervention, recognizing diverse alternatives and making decisions relevant to the complexity of the social situation. Evaluate the social intervention in its design, implementation, and results dimensions, effectively improving the quality of services.
4.- Knowledge and development of ethical standards in both research and social intervention processes.
5.- Academic performance capacity to problematize and develop advanced knowledge in the discipline and initiate an investigative process, being suitable to continue doctoral studies.
6.- Professional performance capacity to address the complexity of social phenomena and design innovative intervention proposals from a critical approach that values the legitimacy of diverse forms of life.
