General
To contribute to the training of expert professionals in Public Health, enabling them to impact better health outcomes in the population, contributing from their practice to the approach of social determinants and equity, with emphasis on the understanding of health as a fundamental Human Right.
Specifics
a) To train expert professionals in Public Health, through a critical analysis of the social and institutional environment in which they are embedded.
b) To train specialists for the development and initiatives of public health policies, according to the needs of the country.
c) To train professionals to propose improvements in the administrative and clinical management of health-related institutions.
Applicant Profile
Applicants must hold an academic degree or bachelor's degree in a health-related field or other fields related to the program (social sciences, humanities, education, or other) with a duration of at least eight semesters, granted by a national or foreign university in a program officially recognized in Chile. In all cases, the program committee will evaluate the applicant's academic background, and the applicant will be required to have at least three years of professional experience working in health institutions.
Graduate profile
1) Apply knowledge, foundations and ethical values of Public Health with an updated conceptual framework based on evidence for the diagnosis and improvement of health, quality of life and equity from a rights-based approach with an understanding of the social, environmental and economic determinants of health.
2) To exercise expert leadership in Public Health, through a critical and reflective analysis of the social and institutional environment, both in Chile and in the Region of the Americas.
3) Use design, management and evaluation tools for public health policies, plans, programs and intervention projects at different levels of the system and especially at the local level.
4) Incorporate tools for the development of critical thinking, self-learning, teamwork and networking.
5) Design and implement public health promotion and research initiatives in different areas.
6) Manage innovations and adopt new technologies in health, including digital health, in the development of health services and systems, with emphasis on primary health care.
