goals

General objective
To train professionals and specialists in the comprehensive management and handling of irrigation through the use of new technologies and precision agriculture tools, in order to adapt agricultural production to future scenarios of water scarcity due to climate change.
Specific objectives
– To deepen advanced knowledge of agronomic irrigation management to optimize the efficiency of water and fertilizer use, yield, and final quality of agricultural products. – To develop technical skills that allow the incorporation of precision agriculture tools into the sustainable management of irrigation and agricultural production. To provide training in the use of new technologies for irrigation and crop management that consider the temporal and spatial variability of agricultural production systems.
– Develop skills for the design and operation of different irrigation systems that involve efficient water management strategies.
– Develop skills to optimize the use of water and energy resources in agricultural operations through the planning, projection, control and execution of pressurized irrigation projects and field sampling techniques.

Applicant Profile

The Program is aimed at graduates in Agricultural Sciences or Agricultural Engineers (or equivalent) with experience in irrigation, who require updating and deepening their knowledge in the management and application of new precision agriculture technologies for a sustainable use of water resources.

Graduate profile

Graduates of the Master's in Irrigation and Precision Agriculture will be able to work as consultants, producers, or as professionals in positions associated with private companies or government agencies that require knowledge of the comprehensive management of water resources through precision agriculture techniques and technologies applied to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the context of sustainable development.
In this way, the graduate will be able to:
– Apply knowledge about the spatial and temporal variability of agricultural systems to address specific problems of water management and precision agriculture.
– Integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines such as remote sensing, micrometeorology, irrigation system design and management, basic computer tools, and GIS software to solve problems related to precision agriculture. – Implement agronomic management strategies and use new technologies associated with precision agriculture to promote the optimization of water, energy, and economic resources on a farm.
– Design and operate different irrigation systems that involve more efficient water management strategies to promote long-term production sustainability.
– Execute technological projects and/or experimental trials in different agricultural processes related to the sustainable management of water resources under climate change scenarios.
