goals
General objective:
The Program seeks to provide students with specialized and up-to-date knowledge in the field of Legal and Forensic Psychology, aimed at its rigorous, ethical and reflective application in the psychological expert and intervention fields, typical of the professional practice of the legal psychologist.
Specific objectives:
1. To understand the epistemological foundations of Legal and Forensic Psychology, from which an interdisciplinary knowledge is articulated applied to public problems that operate in the psycholegal field in Chile.
2. Acquire the knowledge and tools necessary for the preparation and defense of psychological expert evaluations, both in the criminal and family fields.
3. Acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to intervene effectively in the most prevalent psycho-legal problems in the national and international context.
4. Incorporate into their professional work the technical, methodological and ethical standards defined by the discipline and the psycholegal specialty, in accordance with scientifically established knowledge.
Applicant Profile
Applicants must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or a Professional Title of Psychologist
Graduate profile
Upon completion of their studies and obtaining the Academic Degree, the professional will be able to integrate the theoretical knowledge provided by the different disciplines that nourish Legal and Forensic Psychology (criminology, victimology, law), in order to understand and contextually situate the challenges that this specialty faces in Chile.
Similarly, the professional graduating from the program will be able to design, implement, report and defend a forensic psychological evaluation in the different expert fields specific to their specialty.
In addition to the above, the professional graduating from the master's program will have the scientific knowledge and technical tools necessary to evaluate and intervene with the protagonists of those judicial problems in which their participation is requested.
All of this will be done in accordance with the technical, methodological and ethical standards defined by the discipline and the psycholegal specialty, guided by scientifically established knowledge.
