goals
The Master's program in Paleontology has the mission of providing the theoretical, experimental and methodological foundations so that graduates can develop scientific research focused on paleontology.
The program's hallmark is the interdisciplinary generation of knowledge that integrates the evolution of living beings in the history of planet Earth, their interactions and paleoenvironmental context, making it a pioneering postgraduate program at the national level in this field.
Applicant Profile
In accordance with the provisions of the General Regulations of Master's Programs, Art. 19, to apply to the Master's Program in Paleontology it is required to have a Professional Title or Bachelor's Degree granted by a Higher Education Institution in areas related to Biology, Geology, Archaeology and/or Anthropology.
Applications must be submitted through the online application platform (http://www.postgradociencias.uach.cl/postulaciones/), providing the requested information: curriculum vitae, degree certificate, official transcript of grades from your last degree, medical certificate accrediting health compatible with the program activities, two letters of recommendation and a letter of intent to pursue the program.
In addition, a 45-minute personal interview is conducted, either in person or via videoconference, with each applicant, in which the program's operation is explained, the applicant's study expectations are heard, and the coherence of their presentation is evaluated.
These backgrounds are analyzed by the Program Committee, using a previously ranked guideline, with which the applicant's score is obtained and then the cut-off score is decided in accordance with the quotas.
Graduate profile
The graduate of the Master's Program in Paleontology:
a) Proposes and develops research projects in the area of paleontology through appropriate knowledge of this discipline and its legal context, at the national and international level.
b) Proposes and develops strategies for the characterization, protection and conservation of paleontological heritage, including enhancement, creation and maintenance of collections.
To obtain a master's degree, it is necessary to carry out a research project (thesis) in paleontology.

b) Paleozoology
The academics of the program, with their diverse strengths, manage and decide on the research to be developed.
