goals

To train graduates with in-depth knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects of human food and nutrition, enabling them to teach at higher education and to join research teams that work creatively to solve the problems of developing countries.
The Human Nutrition specialization emphasizes the biochemical and physiological aspects of normal nutritional processes, models of pathologies and diseases related to common nutritional deficiencies in the country and the Latin American region. During the program, students receive in-depth instruction on the mechanisms regulating nutrient absorption and metabolism, nutrient requirements throughout the life cycle, and the epidemiology of chronic nutrition-related diseases.

Applicant Profile

Hold a Bachelor's degree or a professional qualification, Chilean or foreign, whose level, content, and duration of studies are similar to those required to obtain a Bachelor's degree from the University of Chile in the area of natural sciences, social sciences, or other disciplines related to food and nutrition. Have a high level of proficiency in Spanish and demonstrate proficiency in scientific English.

Graduate profile

Graduates of the Master's Program in Nutrition and Food, specializing in Human Nutrition, will acquire excellence in the field of human nutrition, with up-to-date technical and scientific knowledge of the physiological aspects of nutrition and its importance throughout the life cycle, in both healthy individuals and those with nutritional pathologies. They will have the capacity and skills to implement and supervise projects in the area of nutrition. The critical thinking skills developed during their time in the program will allow them to implement appropriate actions in the field of nutrition, both nationally and regionally. Graduates will be able to work in universities, in teaching and research; in government positions at the ministerial level and other public agencies; and in hospitals and health centers.
