goals

General objective:
Strengthening professional skills through the integration of new knowledge and the application of scientific and technological tools in problem-solving and decision-making in the areas of environment and biosecurity in aquaculture.
Specific objectives:
-Critically analyze and synthesize the main problems, challenges and projections facing aquaculture and aquatic resources from an economic, social and environmental sustainability perspective.
-Develop skills and capabilities in the use of quantitative methodologies and tools that promote the environmental and health integrity of aquaculture.
-Develop the capacity to design sustainable solutions by applying rigorous methodologies to help solve environmental and health problems in aquaculture and aquatic resources.

Applicant Profile

The Program is intended for professionals and/or graduates in areas related to aquaculture, Chilean and foreign, who work in industries, companies and institutions related to aquaculture and/or the use of hydrobiological resources, carrying out either development, research, innovation as well as management and control of the aquatic environment.
To apply, you must complete the Application for Admission established by the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies (Form 301, downloadable at http://www.postgradociencias.uach.cl/documentos/) and include the following:
Admission Requirements:
1. Curriculum vitae: Indicate all studies and professional development courses you have completed (specify institution, period, type of studies, titles or degrees of certificates received, dates of completion, etc.); indicate the academic or professional fields practiced; list all publications, indicating the corresponding bibliographic citations.
2. Certificate of title and/or degree (original or legalized copy).
3. Official transcript of grades from your last degree or diploma.
4. Medical certificate attesting to health compatible with program activities.
5. Two passport-sized photographs with name and ID or passport number (3 x 4 cm).
6. Name and address of three academics or professionals of recognized prestige, who can provide references for the applicant for the master's degree.
7. Two letters of recommendation issued by academics or professionals of recognized prestige, relating to the applicant's ability and aptitude.
8. Letter from the interested party justifying their application.

Graduate profile

Upon completion of the Master's Program in Environment and Biosecurity in Aquaculture, graduates will be able to:
-Integrate specialized teams that can contribute to the analysis and discussion of future policy guidelines for aquaculture.
-Apply quantitative tools for information analysis that facilitates and supports the decision-making process in aquaculture.
-Design solutions to problems associated with the environmental and health aspects of aquaculture and aquatic resources.
The strengthening of the principle of sustainability and the ecosystem approach in the management of aquaculture systems will be fostered through the development of the hallmark competence of this Program: “Relating the problems derived from the production of aquatic organisms to the services and functions of the ecosystem, respecting the axes of sustainable development.”.
