goals

To train high-level specialists in the use of tools for solving problems in the field of Mechanical Engineering, using finite numerical methods and computer simulations with applications to the characterization of fluid mechanics, heat transfer and the design of equipment and processes for the areas of mining, metalworking, energy, environment and food.

Applicant Profile

Chilean or foreign applicants who hold a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree or equivalent studies may apply to the Master's Degree Program in Computational Mechanics.

Graduate profile

Graduates of the Master's Program in Computational Mechanics at the University of La Serena are equipped to participate, individually or in interdisciplinary teams, in the specialized and innovative solution of complex industrial problems. The strength of their training lies in their ability to observe and identify problems affecting production processes and to formulate physical-mathematical models that account for the nature of these problems. They will also be able to simulate processes using computer-aided design software, enabling them to perform predictive descriptions of the processes involved under operating conditions. Consequently, graduates acquire the capacity to analyze, discuss, and project the results obtained, facilitating the generation of efficient solutions through computational simulation for the continuous improvement of processes, equipment, and associated products. Furthermore, their postgraduate training will enable them to participate in and initiate theoretical and applied research activities in related fields.
