goals
The fundamental objective of the program is to train professionals with the necessary skills to lead and manage an educational organization to achieve its effectiveness and the learning of all students, leading actions of change and improvement based on decisions founded on empirical evidence, on the theoretical foundation gathered from updated national and international studies and on information from their organization and the policies of the country.
The program aims to contribute directly to improving the quality of education in Chile and, at the same time, to generating relevant knowledge and fostering debate on leadership development.

The program is aimed at professionals who wish to deepen their knowledge and develop
Leadership and management skills, developed in public or private educational institutions (education departments, foundations, corporations or others), including:
• Teachers aspiring to management positions.
• Current managers who want to improve their performance.
• Other professionals who participate and collaborate in educational processes.
Graduate profile
Graduates of the Master's Program in Educational Leadership and Management will possess the skills to lead and manage an educational organization, with a focus on the learning of all students. They will be able to lead initiatives for change and continuous quality improvement, grounded in research evidence and analysis of their professional experience, consistent with educational policy, and relevant to the context and characteristics of the institution and its educational community.
In particular, the program defines twelve professional competencies that shape the characteristics that graduates will have upon completion of their studies (7 specific competencies and 5 general competencies):
Specific Professional Competencies
1. To design an educational center with a strategic vision that puts student learning and continuous improvement of the center at the center, promoting the participation and support of the entire educational community.
2. To manage an educational organization by transforming it into an institution that is able to respond to the needs of its community, connect with its environment, and develop within the complexity of the current context, in order to achieve its objectives.
3. To lead and actively participate in the teaching and learning processes of the educational center, guiding and monitoring pedagogical practices and learning achievements.
4. Lead the development of the capabilities of the people in the educational organization, through knowledge of the teams, their needs and motivations, and consistent actions that allow collaborative improvement of professional performance.
5. Apply leadership tools and strategies – such as negotiation and effective communication – that contribute to strengthening interpersonal relationships, the climate of coexistence and trust within an educational organization.
6. Systematically diagnose the reality of an educational organization, identifying the main factors that affect its performance and using different strategies and perspectives for this purpose.
7. Develop a comprehensive proposal for the improvement of an educational organization based on evidence and the vision of its stakeholders, applying various tools to design, communicate and implement this strategy.
General Professional Competencies
1. To develop a comprehensive vision of Chilean education, identifying its main problems and understanding the policies and regulations that frame the functioning of the school system, as well as the effects that this larger context has on the practices of educational centers.
2. Analyze and address various situations or problems that arise in the exercise of leadership and educational management, applying the main theoretical and practical knowledge, and the available national and international evidence.
3. Promote an inclusive, equitable school culture with high expectations for the learning achievements of all students and the performance of community members, under a leadership approach for social justice.
4. Make short and long-term decisions in the educational field by reflectively questioning and comparing (reflectively analyze) and analytically information from various sources and data, taking into account current educational regulations and prioritizing the learning of all students.
5. Ability to identify the potential and limitations of their work, through professional reflection, ongoing self-evaluation and the development of strategies to continuously improve their own practice.
