goals

General objective: To promote the development of quality philosophical research in relation to the different expressions of scientific knowledge, and to train specialists with solid reflective, argumentative and critical skills in Philosophy of Science.
– Specific objectives:
a) To promote the development of specific lines of research, mainly in the areas of philosophy and history of physical, biological and cognitive sciences, general philosophy of science, and epistemology.
b) Promote interdisciplinary discussion through the development of groups and activities that examine topics of common interest between science and philosophy.
c) To train graduates capable of using the different philosophical methods to analyze the fundamental themes, authors, and problems of the areas of philosophy of science declared by the Program, with the purpose of producing specialized academic texts.
d) To provide graduates with the logical, historical and conceptual tools of the philosophical heritage so that they can enter the academic research world related to reflection on the sciences.

Applicant Profile

a) Hold a Bachelor's Degree and/or University Professional Title. If an applicant does not meet the requirement that the Professional Title be of a university nature, the Program Committee will evaluate the relevance of the applicant's academic training.
b) Express interest in reflecting on the relationship between science and philosophy and in participating and integrating into all internal and external philosophical activities associated with the management of the Program.
c) Demonstrate aptitude for analyzing the impact of science and its applications in contemporary society.

Graduate profile

Graduates of the Master's in Philosophy of Science will be able to:
a) Explain the logical, ontological and epistemological foundations of scientific activity and the contributions that philosophers have made to its development, based on the major historical milestones that have marked the emergence of modern and contemporary science, valuing the interdisciplinary nature of the philosophy-science debate.
b) Formulate and develop theoretical research projects, based on the different fields of scientific knowledge with which philosophy can engage in dialogue, rigorously applying some of the argumentative methods and strategies of philosophy.
c) Produce knowledge autonomously, proposing and arguing with logical rigor points of view of philosophical relevance on some topic related to one of the areas of Philosophy of Science of the Program.
d) Use the conceptual tools of philosophy to insert oneself into the research-academic world related to reflection on the sciences.
