General objective
The Master's program in Philosophy taught by the PUCV Institute of Philosophy has as its central objectives to promote philosophical reflection and research and to train researchers in the discipline who contribute fruitfully to its development in higher education institutions and/or research centers.

Specific objectives
- Deliver up-to-date and specialized training in the philosophical topics addressed in the program's study plan.
- Stimulate and develop analytical and critical capacities that allow a detailed and systematic study of philosophical problems to be carried out.
– To provide the methodological tools required for the investigative activity.

Applicant Profile

The student entering the program is a graduate with a bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification—awarded in Chile or abroad—who expresses a clear motivation to study philosophy at the postgraduate level. They also possess a foundation in philosophical knowledge acquired through readings they consider essential. Furthermore, they are capable of initially assessing their own understanding of the subject. The student is also able to define an area of interest within the philosophical disciplines; this area serves as a guiding criterion for their graduate thesis.

This admission profile includes both people with undergraduate training in Philosophy and those who do not have it, although they do express the interest stated in the previous paragraph.

Graduate profile

The graduate profile of the Master's Program in Philosophy allows them to:
1.- Analyze and explain the metaphysical dimension of philosophy.
2.- Analyze and explain the practical dimension of philosophy.
3. Express your ideas orally in a clear and precise manner.
4. To articulate a coherent philosophical reflection in the production of academic texts

Lines of investigation

IFIL has established three lines of research that are directly related to the Master's program:
1. Line dedicated to the History of Philosophy and its problematic development.
2. Theoretical line focused on idealism, phenomenology and epistemology.
3. Line that studies practical philosophy: ethics, political philosophy and aesthetics.
These lines of research are linked to the Master's program in two ways. First, the program's professors design and teach courses whose content focuses primarily on these lines of research. Second, the program's faculty encourage and guide students in producing theses focused on the described lines of research.
