goals

General Objective: To train graduates capable of generating scientific knowledge in the field of discourse studies in the Coquimbo Region. Specific Objectives:
A) To train postgraduate students in research in one of the four lines developed by the program: 1) Literary discourse and multimodality; 2) Discourse, argumentation and cognition; 3) Pedagogical, academic and scientific discourse; and 4) Political, professional and institutional discourse.
B) Generate scientific knowledge through participation in research projects, writing research articles and thesis work.
C) To respond to the needs of the territory in relation to training and research in the field of Discourse Studies.

Applicant Profile

Be in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in a field related to the Humanities and have adequate command of English (ideally certified) that allows you to understand academic texts in that language.

Graduate profile

Graduates of the program present their skills, abilities, and knowledge through three main axes:
1) They understand the epistemic foundations of Discourse Studies (DSS) as an interdisciplinary field, in which the interests of the humanities, social sciences and cognitive sciences converge; 2) They work in teams and investigate, with standards of scientific rigor, relevant discursive objects and phenomena in some of the lines of research of the program; and 3) They create and communicate, in formal and informal instances, through diverse research genres (summaries, papers, research articles, theses, videos, presentations, reports), the results of research on discourse.

Lines of investigation

The program's lines of research are: 1) Literary and multimodal discourse; 2) Discourse, argumentation and cognition; 3) Pedagogical, academic and scientific discourse; and 4) Political, professional and institutional discourse.
