goals
General Objective: To train specialists in the field of Mathematics Education in order to respond, based on research, to regional and/or national needs related to mathematics teaching and learning processes. Specific Objectives:
Studying phenomena related to the teaching and learning processes of mathematics in different learning environments and contexts.
Develop skills for the creation and development of research proposals on problems and phenomena of the scientific discipline.
To provide theoretical and methodological tools for the design and implementation of original didactic proposals for the teaching and learning of topics in the various mathematical frameworks, based on research in the discipline.
Applicant Profile
Teachers holding a Bachelor's degree in Education, a teaching degree in Basic General Education, a teaching degree in Secondary Education specializing in Mathematics, or another degree related to mathematics with at least 3,000 pedagogical hours or 4 years of study are eligible to apply. Individuals holding an equivalent academic degree may also apply to the Program.
Graduate profile
Graduates of the Master's Program in Mathematics Education are capable of conducting research on diverse phenomena related to the teaching and learning of mathematics, using various methodologies and theoretical approaches. Based on the results of their research, they will be able to advise regional or national organizations on the design and implementation of training programs to improve mathematics learning at all levels of the Chilean education system. Furthermore, they will be competent to propose strategies for the professional development and training of teachers.
