goals
1.- To broaden the professional profile of academics in the health field by providing them with theoretical and practical skills for their performance in teaching, as well as optimizing their work and intervention tools in the face of teaching problems and challenges.
2.- To train or improve academics and professionals involved in teaching in health sciences, in cognitive, attitudinal and psychomotor aspects, enabling them to effectively and efficiently assume management and coordination responsibilities in academic units, subjects, courses and practices of the Health Careers.
3. To provide in-depth theoretical study of the educational sciences and their conceptual foundations, in order to understand the different paradigms proposed in these disciplines, conceived in their social and multicultural projection, to find the best models and evidence to develop high-level teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to establish systematic and innovative lines of research.
4.- To allow the analysis of the different forms of learning and curriculum structures, and to decide their most pertinent application in higher education, in the area of health sciences, especially to provide health professionals with the instruments of a personalized, autonomous, competent and flexible professional performance in the face of renewed behaviors, becoming an expert, consultant, innovator and educational promoter in such disciplines.
5.- To have and know how to apply the different forms of evaluation usable in their area, including those related to models and processes, which allow the adoption of criteria on shortcomings and achievements, accredit tasks and strategies and promote the necessary improvement to always seek and maintain high quality educational levels.
Applicant Profile
Those eligible to apply to the program are individuals who hold a Bachelor's degree or a professional title, preferably in the health sciences, whose level or content of studies is equivalent to that required to obtain a Bachelor's degree according to the regulations of the University of Chile, as determined by the Program's Academic Committee.
Graduate profile
The graduate of the Master's program in Health Sciences Education is a graduate who works in the field of education in the health sciences and professions, managing, teaching and researching in the various areas of professional training, based on appropriate scientific training.
The Faculty of Medicine expects its graduates in Health Sciences Education to demonstrate in their personal and professional conduct those values and traditions of the University of Chile and of the Faculty itself in which they have been trained.
Its main areas of expertise are:
1.- Higher education in health-related fields.
2.- The graduate is qualified to teach at the university level, both undergraduate and postgraduate, in the health professions.
3. Management of programs and processes in health sciences education
4.- The graduate is qualified to address problems related to the management of programs, curricula, teaching processes, teaching, evaluation of individual learning and collective achievements.
5. Research in health sciences education.
The graduate faces challenges and processes of generating relevant knowledge for disciplinary development and decision-making in the field of teaching and learning, curriculum and its evaluation, the constitution of collectives that teach and learn, whether acting individually or as part of teams.
