goals
To train graduates with research skills in film and audiovisual arts, fostering the development of analytical-critical thinking and the interdisciplinary perspective of students, strengthening theoretical production in the field of these disciplines at the national level.
Applicant Profile
MEC defines three types of applicants according to the type of approach to studies
film and audiovisual. Firstly, these are applicants with studies
undergraduate students in film or audiovisual studies who are seeking continued professional development.
Secondly, applicants with undergraduate studies related to the arts (arts,
design, music, theater, stage communication, etc.) who are seeking a degree of
specialization in film and audiovisual production to complement their training. In third
place, applicants whose training is not of a cinematographic, audiovisual or
artistic but requires specific knowledge to complement its tasks and
research mainly linked to the relationship between cinema/image and society:
anthropologists, philosophers, sociologists, psychologists, etc.
Graduate profile
MEC graduates will be able to analyze film and audiovisual media, following aesthetic and historical categories, considering new contributions to the area, both technological and those related to new formats.
They will recognize methods, styles, trends and theories of cinematic art, in its contemporary modalities and practices, being able to produce academic texts and texts of various formats (essay, criticism, commentaries), applying film analysis tools to problematize the relationships between cinema, society, art and politics.
They will acquire the tools to formulate and develop research and/or creative projects, to contribute to knowledge about contemporary cinema, and to the renewal of Chilean and Latin American cinematographic practice, with a critical, transformative and creative perspective.
