The overall objective of the MCMM Program is to deliver classic and ongoing information on bacteria, viruses, and fungi so that a professional in the biological field can deepen their knowledge in Microbiology and become qualified in the research field of the discipline.

Applicant Profile

The general admission criteria for Master's Programs are governed by the General Regulations of the Master's Programs of the UACh, Title V On Admission to the Program, article 19 (Annex 3.1), which establishes as a general requirement having the academic degree of Bachelor or a professional title whose level and content are equivalent to those required for obtaining a Bachelor's degree.
The Master of Science in Microbiology is geared towards Chilean or international graduates with degrees in fields related to the program (e.g., Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, Marine Biology, Biochemistry, Natural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Forestry Engineering, Natural Resource Conservation Engineering, Agronomy, Veterinary Sciences, Medical Technology, among others). Applicants must submit:
1. Curriculum vitae.
2. Bachelor's degree certificate or equivalent degree.
3. Official transcript of grades from your last degree or diploma.
4. Two letters of recommendation from distinguished academics.
5. Personal letter justifying your application.
6. A passport-sized photograph (3x4) with name and ID or passport number.
Foreign applicants must legalize all documents and demonstrate adequate command of the Spanish language if it is not their native language.
Starting in the first semester of 2017, applications to postgraduate programs at the Austral University of Chile must be made through an online application platform (https://secure12.uach.cl/Postgrado/PostulacionAdmision/).
For admission via Undergraduate-Postgraduate Linkage, in accordance with the Academic-Administrative Procedure for Linkage Programs between Undergraduate Careers and Master's Programs of the Austral University of Chile (Annex 3.5), the requirements are established in the Linkage Agreement (Annexes 2.3 to 2.5), it being essential to have the first 8 semesters approved with which they obtain the degree of Bachelor.

Graduate profile

Upon completion of the Master of Science Program with a specialization in Microbiology, it is expected that the graduate will be a specialist with solid scientific and methodological knowledge, with skills and the ability to solve scientific problems associated with microbiology in both its basic aspects and its applications.

The program is based on three main lines of research:
Bacteriology.
Mycology and Soil Microbiology.
Virology and Cell Biology.
