goals

The program aims to train graduates capable of composing music at a high level of complexity, encompassing musical thought and the reflective processes that give rise to it. Through a thorough exploration of the creative and reflective stages of their own work, graduates are qualified to teach at the university level in subjects related to musical composition and analysis. In the program, students develop a personal creative language that enables them to stimulate reflective engagement with their audiences and with diverse aspects of culture.

Applicant Profile

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree or a professional title in a musical field whose level, content, and duration of study correspond to training equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from the University of Chile. They must also submit five original musical scores that, from a stylistic point of view, demonstrate a connection to contemporary music of written tradition. Additionally, applicants must submit a written thesis proposal and pass an examination of musical knowledge and skills relevant to developing the thesis project, demonstrating performance ability on a musical instrument.
