goals

To train researchers who contribute to the sustainable development of society, both in the productive and social sectors. Furthermore, it aims to be a postgraduate training option for national and international researchers from other institutions who wish to develop skills in scientific research. The goal of the PMG is to be an efficient instrument in the continuing education process of Geology and Earth Sciences at UCN, particularly between the Bachelor's and Doctoral levels in Geology.

Applicant Profile

Students are expected to have a background in Geology, Geological Engineering, or other related fields, demonstrable through a Professional Title or Bachelor of Science degree. Furthermore, they should be interested in expanding their knowledge in Earth Sciences, particularly in the research areas they declare.
The program focuses on developing skills for fundamental and/or applied scientific research, enabling participants to enter the workforce, government agencies, or pursue doctoral studies. A level of scientific English equivalent to the European B1 level for reading and speaking is also recommended.

Graduate profile

Graduates of this program possess a solid theoretical, methodological, and practical foundation that enables them to understand, relate, and integrate knowledge about endogenous geological processes in convergent margins, exogenous geological processes in desert environments, and their practical application within the territorial and social context. They employ this knowledge and these skills to creatively and originally identify, conceptualize, design, and develop high-quality basic or applied research projects. They are competent to work in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams at national and international institutions conducting top-tier research. The effective communication and dissemination of their research results, both in specialized journals and in scientific outreach settings, is a fundamental competency in their work, both in writing and in specialized media.
