General objective
The overall objective of the Master's Program in Forest Sciences is to train competent graduates in the sustainable management of forest ecosystems. Graduates of the program will be qualified to undertake research, conservation, and production activities in the forestry sector, focusing on the areas of plant biotechnology, wood chemistry and technology, and silviculture and forest ecosystem management.

– It has been proposed to transmit and develop advanced and highly specialized knowledge through postgraduate and post-degree programs, aimed at national and foreign graduates and professionals seeking to position themselves at the level of the requirements posed by the contemporary environment: a broad vision, the need for permanent updating and great competence in their area of knowledge, a cultural level that facilitates their work with all sectors of society and with social responsibility, especially with the groups or communities with the greatest lack of resources

This professional possesses the ability to handle relevant concepts and methodologies, solving problems and seizing opportunities related to the practice of Forest Sciences and their interrelation with ecosystems, under the lens of natural resource sustainability, in the areas defined as Wood Chemistry and Technology, Plant Biotechnology, and Silviculture and Forest Ecosystem Management. Their competencies will enable them to work in academia, private practice, forestry project management, or as a researcher in public and private institutions.
Professionals who obtain the Master's degree in Forest Sciences will have a scientific and technical preparation in the area, will be able to perform as graduates focused on research and/or the management of forest resources, having the ability to solve problems and take advantage of opportunities related to the practice of Forest Sciences and its interrelation with ecosystems, under a prism of sustainability of natural resources, in those areas already defined.
