goals

General objective
To train graduates capable of critically analyzing complex problems in Mechanical Engineering, proposing solutions based on advanced conceptual and methodological management, and communicating effectively in academic and industrial contexts, in order to meet the requirements posed by scientific and technological development.

Specific objectives
– To provide the student with tools that allow them to develop an advanced conceptual and methodological understanding of the discipline.
– To strengthen the student's capacity for critical analysis of current knowledge and the problems posed by mechanical engineering.
– To train graduates capable of formulating projects and participating in research groups in the discipline.
– To prepare graduates to propose solutions to advanced problems in Mechanical Engineering.
– To promote the communication of research results in oral and written form, in academic contexts.

Applicant Profile

The program is aimed at graduates in engineering sciences or related disciplines relevant to the program's research areas, who are interested in acquiring skills related to research and knowledge building in each area of specialization. Applicants must be proactive and have the capacity for self-directed learning, with motivation and effective dedication being key factors in their work.

Graduate profile

The graduate of the Master's in Mechanical Engineering will have the following competencies:
– Demonstrate conceptual and methodological mastery in the formulation, characterization and solution of problems in the discipline.
– Characterize relevant problems in the disciplinary area, identifying the possible impacts in the context in which they occur.
– To propose solutions to complex problems within their area of expertise by critically analyzing the phenomena and variables involved.
– Critically evaluate one's own and peers' scientific and technological work, arguing one's position based on scientific criteria.
– Formulate research projects in your discipline, based on current scientific and technological standards for competitive funding*.
– Develop research as part of work teams, on topics related to Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on their area of specialization, demonstrating proactivity and responsibility*.
– To organize and communicate relevant information, results and findings of the research, orally and in writing in academic contexts.

Lines of investigation

– Thermofluids: a line of research focused on applied research in areas based on thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer, such as environmental conditioning, combustion, industrial refrigeration, computational fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, among others.
– Applied Mechanics: a line of research focused on applied research in areas based on solid mechanics, dynamics and materials science, such as mechanical vibrations, modeling and simulation of dynamic systems, structural analysis, composite materials, among others.
