goals

To develop advanced human capital for the search for technological solutions, enhancing technology transfer in engineering through the development of capabilities for solving real problems in industry and society, which are at the frontier of knowledge, thus promoting the development of the new R&D&I industry through applied research and/or development.
Training graduates who will primarily enter industry to conduct applied research and technological development in engineering. Graduates will be equipped to strengthen research and development units within companies.
They will also be able to lead research and technological innovation projects in the areas of engineering.

Applicant Profile

Hold an academic degree of Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or the professional title of civil engineer, equivalent or higher degree/title in disciplines related to engineering.

Graduate profile

Graduates of the USM Doctoral Program in Applied Engineering possess a high level of theoretical and experimental knowledge and the ability to solve complex engineering problems. They propose sustainable and efficient solutions, leading work teams in an industrial context. They will be able to respond to the challenges of the scientific community, as well as diagnose, understand, and effectively address the highly complex requirements of the industrial world. Graduates of the program also possess knowledge in intellectual property management and will be qualified to patent inventions resulting from Research and Development.

Lines of investigation

As it is a multidisciplinary program, all areas of engineering in which UTFSM has human resources and infrastructure are considered.
