goals

a) To train researchers capable of producing original and significant knowledge in the field of history
b) To train researchers capable of participating in the current disciplinary, epistemological, and methodological debate
c) To train researchers capable of embracing the present as a stimulus to find in the past the answers to the concerns, questions and uncertainties posed by the contingency, committing themselves to the search for solutions to social problems
d) To train academics capable of developing activities in higher education; designing and executing research projects; leading work teams; and participating collaboratively in networks of specialists.

Applicant Profile

a) Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in history, or in other disciplines related to the program. In the latter case, the Doctoral Committee will evaluate the relevance of the applicant's academic background.
B) demonstrate at least an intermediate level of English focused on reading comprehension, which will be evidenced by a current certificate issued by specialized Centers or Institutions.
In cases deemed appropriate by the Doctoral Program Committee in History (CPDH), additional academic requirements may be established as a condition for admission. These will consist of the completion of additional academic activities beyond the curriculum established by this resolution, aimed at addressing any gaps in training that hinder the achievement of the Graduate Profile. The specific assignment of these additional requirements will be defined in each case by the CPDH, based on its assessment of the deficiencies to be remedied.

Graduate profile

a) Historical research axis: design and execute complex historical research projects, to contribute to disciplinary development and generate environments conducive to the collaborative production of knowledge.
b) Historical analysis axis for social action: to make the historical complexity of the relationship between present and past understandable, providing a rigorous foundation for the reflection and participation of social actors.
c) axis of updating historiographical knowledge: to constantly update oneself on the theoretical and methodological approaches of the discipline, based on the state of the art in one's field of specialization
